Beginning with a delicate double cleanse, we carefully remove impurities without disrupting your skin’s natural balance. Then, using Circadia’s cocoa enzyme with the gentle embrace of steam, we exfoliate to reveal fresh, glowing skin. A relaxing facial massage follows, promoting circulation and collagen production, whilst easing tension.

To deeply hydrate and calm, we apply Circadia’s marshmallow mask, rich in soothing marshmallow root extract, before finishing with a tension-relieving scalp massage. Your skin will be left feeling beautifully soft and hydrated, with the final touch of tailored moisturiser and sun protection.

    FAQS

    • What does the treatment involve?

Pre-cleanse: The pre-cleanse is the initial step in our facial treatment, where we use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, makeup, and impurities from the skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

Second cleanse: The second cleanse is a deeper cleansing step, using a more intense product to remove any remaining impurities and excess oil, leaving the skin feeling clean and balanced.

Circadia's cocoa enzyme with steam: This step involves applying a gentle enzyme exfoliant containing cocoa extract to the skin, which helps break down dead skin cells and unclog pores. Steam is then applied to help open up the pores and allow for a deeper cleansing experience.

Remove enzyme with warm mitts: Using warm mitts, we gently remove the enzyme exfoliant and any remaining impurities from the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and refreshed.

Facial Massage: Our skilled therapists will perform a gentle facial massage to increase blood flow, reduce tension, and promote relaxation. This step helps to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity.

Application of Circadia's Marshmallow mask: We apply a nourishing mask containing marshmallow root extract to provide intense hydration and soothing properties to the skin. This mask helps to calm and comfort the skin, reducing redness and irritation.

Scalp Massage: While the mask is working its magic, we will massage your scalp to stimulate blood flow, relieve tension, and promote healthy hair growth.

Removal of mask with warm mitts: Using warm mitts once again, we gently remove the mask from your skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated.

Support products, moisturise and SPF: Finally, we will apply a customised blend of support products tailored to your specific skin concerns, followed by moisturiser to lock in hydration. We will also apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF to protect your skin from environmental stressors and UV damage.

    • Do I need a consultation first?

You can enjoy our Nurture facial without the need of a consultation, however we strongly suggest booking one for a date prior to your desired treatment should you have any skin concerns you specifically wish to address. Please also note that we cannot perform a treatment until you are a minimum of 13 weeks into your pregnancy.

    • Why do I have to wait until week 13 of pregnancy for a facial?

It's common for skincare professionals to advise waiting until week 13 of pregnancy to have a facial treatment. There are several reasons for this:

Increased blood flow and circulation: During the first trimester, your body undergoes significant changes, including increased blood flow and circulation. This can cause your skin to become more sensitive and prone to breakouts. Facial treatments may exacerbate these issues, leading to irritation, redness, or even infection.

Hormonal fluctuations: Hormonal changes during early pregnancy can cause skin issues like acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation. A facial treatment may trigger or worsen these conditions, which could lead to long-term skin problems.

Skin sensitivity: Skin while pregnant is often more sensitive due to hormonal fluctuations. Facial treatments can be harsh on the skin, causing irritation, itching, or even allergic reactions. It's essential to avoid products or treatments that may irritate your skin during this period.

Risk of infection: Some facial treatments involve exfoliation, extractions, or the use of chemicals that can increase the risk of infection during pregnancy. It's crucial to minimise the risk of infection, especially during the first trimester when your immune system is already compromised.

Recommendations from healthcare providers: Many obstetricians and healthcare providers advise women to wait until the second trimester (around week 13) before undergoing facial treatments. This is because they want to minimise any potential risks and ensure that any skincare concerns can be addressed in a safe and controlled environment.

After week 13, your body has typically adjusted to the hormonal changes, and your skin has stabilised. Your skin care professional can then assess your skin and recommend a customised treatment plan that is safe and beneficial for you during pregnancy.

    • Why can’t I have certain products/treatments while pregnant/breastfeeding?

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, it's essential to be cautious when using facial products and treatments to ensure the health and safety of both you and your baby. Here are some reasons why you may need to avoid certain products and treatments:

Hormonal sensitivity: During pregnancy, hormonal changes can make your skin more sensitive. Using certain products can irritate your skin, leading to redness, itching, or acne.

Increased blood flow: Pregnancy increases blood circulation, which can cause your skin to become more permeable. This means that chemicals in products can penetrate deeper into your skin, potentially harming your baby.

Breastfeeding concerns: When breastfeeding, you want to ensure that any chemicals or toxins you're exposed to aren't transferred to your baby through milk.

Potential risks to fetal development: Some ingredients in facial products have been linked to potential risks during pregnancy, such as:

Teratogens: Substances that can cause birth defects or other developmental problems. Carcinogens: Chemicals that may increase the risk of cancer.

Endocrine disruptors: Compounds that mimic or interfere with hormones, potentially affecting fetal development.

Common ingredients to avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Retinoids (e.g., retinol, retinoid acid): These can be teratogenic and should be avoided during the first trimester.

Salicylic acid: While generally safe, high concentrations can cause skin irritation and dryness.

Glycolic acid: This alpha-hydroxy acid can be too harsh for sensitive pregnancy skin.

Lactic acid: Similar to glycolic acid, high concentrations can cause irritation.

Peels (chemical or physical): Avoid peels containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), or beta-carotene, as they can cause irritation or allergic reactions.

Hydroquinone: This skin-lightening ingredient is not recommended during pregnancy due to its potential hormonal effects.

Mercury: Mercury is a known toxin that can pass through the placenta and potentially harm the foetus.

Parabens: Some parabens have been linked to endocrine disruption and may be a concern during pregnancy.

    • How many sessions will I need?

Results are immediate however for skin concerns more than one treatment may be required. For optimal results we do recommend facials every 4-6 weeks. To advance your results your skin specialist can advise on which facials to switch to once you are no longer in the stages or pregnancy/breastfeeding.

    • Is the facial painful?

No, there are no painful sensations.

    • Is there anything which would stop me having this treatment?

First trimester - No treatments are able to be performed until week 13 of pregnancy.

Open wounds: Areas with open wounds, cuts, or lesions can not be treated. The enzymes within the products used may exacerbate the condition or introduce bacteria into the wound.

Surgical or injury scars: Recently scarred areas can not be treated, as the enzymes may disrupt the healing process or cause irritation.

Skin infections: If you have a skin infection, such as cellulitis, folliculitis, or impetigo, it's essential to treat the infection before undergoing a Circadia facial.

Skin cancer: If you have a history of skin cancer or are currently undergoing treatment for skin cancer, it's recommended to consult with your healthcare specialist before undergoing one of our Circadia facials.

Autoimmune disorders: Certain autoimmune disorders, such as psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis, may require special considerations which may prevent us being able to provide this treatment.

Recent chemical peels, injectables or laser treatments: Allow sufficient time for your skin to recover from previous treatments before undergoing this treatment.
Skin conditions that require systemic treatment: Conditions like seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, or acne cysts may require systemic treatment and may not be suitable for Circadia facials.
