Microneedling
Microneedling also known as Collagen Induction Therapy is a popular, minimally invasive procedure, successfully used to help improve conditions such as acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, scar tissue, stretch marks, skin laxity and hyperpigmentation. It is also a treatment that has the ability to elevate the texture of the skin, to make it more plump and refreshed.
Our Exceed microneedling system is the worlds first and only Double FDA cleared device for acne scars and facial wrinkles and now boasts UK MHRA registration.
The UK's First MHRA registered microneedling pen with a CE Class 2A mark, ensures the most stringent measures for patient and practitioner safety have been obtained. Exceed uses ultra fine needles to cause thousands of temporary microscopic channels and micro-injuries in the skin. These tiny holes act as controlled wounds that initiate the skins natural healing process, building new collagen and elastin to strengthen and support the skin cells, leading to tighter and smoother skin and a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
When treating acne scarring, microneedling induces the production of collagen in order to help to break down the fibrous tissue in the region of the acne scar, and replaces it with healthy skin tissue, resulting in a much smoother appearance.
With hyperpigmentation, microneedling does a tremendous job of lightening the discolouration in the skin. It works by breaking up the pigment below the surface of the skin, leaving the powerful new collagen production to repair and restore, creating better quality skin that is lighter in complexion and more evenly matched to the original skin tone. Microneedling is essentially forcing the surrounding skin to make brand-new skin that hasn't yet been agitated by hormones or the sun.
Stretch marks (striae) are a form of dermal scarring associated with stretching or rapid shrinking of the dermis layer of the skin, or when the connective tissue is stretched beyond its capacity causing damage and disruption to the natural production of collagen and elastin.
They are most commonly associated with pregnancy, growth spurts during puberty, muscular exercise or weight gain and weight loss. These vertical lines mainly affect the stomach, upper arms, legs, buttocks, breasts and the back, and can vary in colour eventually fading to silvery pink.
Microneedling will not only restart the production of collagen, but the overproduction of elastin and collagen will help in healing the damaged connective tissue in the dermis that creates the stretch mark. A procedure like microneedling is also great for stretch marks because it penetrates the skin deep enough to create a reaction within the same layers that the stretch marks are instead of resting on the surface.
