Cryotherapy

FreezPen Cryotherapy is the gold standard treatment for the safe removal of benign and superficial skin lesions on the surface of the skin. The FreezPen delivers an extremely cold jet of Nitrous Oxide to freeze the skin lesions. As a consequence, the water inside the cells freeze, expands and ruptures the membrane of the cells. The cells that comprise the lesion are eliminated over time to allow new healthy tissue to grow in the same area. Freezpen is used to treat skin tags, cherry angiomas, sunspots, moles, warts and veruccae. Freezpen will only treat your lesion, and not the healthy tissue surrounding it therefore making it a virtually pain free experience.

FAQS

  • How does FreezPen cryotherapy work

FreezPen is a medical device used for cryotherapy, which delivers a controlled and precise freezing treatment to skin lesions and other skin conditions. It works by delivering a fine jet of compressed nitrous oxide gas to the affected area, which causes rapid freezing of the tissue, to at least -62°C, resulting in the destruction of the targeted cells. The rapid freezing causes ice crystals to form inside the cells, which damages the cell membrane, destroying the cell organelles and protein matrices. Water then rushes into the surrounding area causing a blister, and a disruption of the local blood supply. The body's immune system then works to remove the damaged cells, and new healthy tissue grows in its place. The treatment is quick and typically only takes a few seconds. FreezPen is commonly used to treat a variety of skin lesions and conditions, including warts, skin tags, and other benign skin growths, as well as actinic keratosis, a precancerous skin condition.

  • Is it painful?

The procedure is generally well-tolerated, but patients may experience some mild discomfort or pain during and after the procedure. This pain is typically described as a burning or stinging sensation, but it should be short-lived.

  • How long does the treatment take?

The length of treatment depends on the size and location of the lesion, but typically only takes a few seconds.

  • What skin lesions and conditions can be treated?

FreezPen is commonly used to treat a variety of skin lesions and conditions, including warts, skin tags, sunspots, cherry angiomas and other benign skin growths.
